Parodying how women are objectified by the music industry, Lily eats bananas, pours champagne over her dancers, and in a particularly amusing moment we watch her ‘manager’ teach her how to twerk more seductively. All with an ironic glint in her eye.
On the contrary, in ''Royals'' most of the video is casted in full clothes, except where the artist fiancee is acting the words 'Lorde' sings. In 'Royals' it completely differs to 'Hard out here' as the woman aren't seen as objects of desire and instead of woman for once not basically naked, a man is who is describing 'Lorde's' singing. The cinematography is extremely bland and plain, with a lack of scene change compared to 'Hard out here'. Lastly, in 'Royals' woman are treated equally as men and are not seen exploiting themselves, compared to 'Royals' where woman are exploited in showing there cleavage and seen as an object of desire, with voyeuristic features shown to the public.
